Baby B arrived ready for her newborn photo session in Puyallup, WA with big beautiful bright eyes, watching mom and dad when she was pulled so gently out of her car seat.
She was so cozy and calm with the whole situation as her newborn photo session was about to begin. Dad proudly and confidently held her in his arms. I was so impressed this sweet family drove all the way from Maple Valley, Wa to join me in Puyallup, Wa for their newborn photos and I am so glad they did!
Dad carried baby propped up in his arms so comfortably, it was almost like he had done it a million times before – though Baby was just days old. I always love when I see Dad’s holding their newborn baby!
One of my favorite parts about newborn photo shoots in South Hill (besides the adorable babies) is getting to talk with all of the soon-to-be mother’s when they book their newborn photo sessions at 7 or 8 months pregnant and then getting to meet them after their sweet infant finally arrives!
The transition from a beautiful pregnant woman that is so longing to meet her newborn baby and to eagerly have the newborn photos finally (and husbands often feeling that way also) to a brand new mother with her tiny newborn baby finally in her arms ready for the first precious newborn photo session to finally start is a pretty special and a monumental moment. It is a long haul journey, and I feel honored, honestly.
I get to be there at the finish line to take the pictures. To capture those unbelievably precious first little newborn photos of babies tiny little details that we all savor and hold onto when we finally get the newborn photos back! The little eyelashes, the tiny toes, the little eyebrows and tiny newborn noses… I could go on and on. Its pretty special stuff. Did I mention I have the best job in the world?
To get to look in on this new little family and see the amount of love they had for each other and for their brand new beautiful baby girl was so beautiful to me.
I would be lying if I didn’t admit there is another favorite part of my job as a newborn photographer…
Which is when baby is finally fed, burped, changed and wrapped up in her first outfit for the session, I often hear Mom’s surprised and pleased “oh my gooooodness!” in the background as she looks upon her little one all snuggled up in a delicate newborn wrap sitting inside of a cream colored wooden bowl or the likes. For this newborn session, the bowl was lined with more soft cream knits and earthy sage colors. I gently slid a brand new bonnet over baby’s tiny newborn head- tying the lace bow as I smiled at Baby asleep so soon.
It is the biggest compliment to me when I see Mom’s repeated smile at their baby during the newborn photo session.
Baby B wore a creamy colored French lace bonnet I hand made with imported French lace and ribbon from a local vendor here in the Pacific Northwest. It fit her perfectly, almost like it had been made specifically for her. I love when that happens! It was paired with a buttercream colored silk covering also from a local vendor, which was then gently tucked in over baby, as she lay snuggled up in a white organic stretch wrap from Blue Stone Sky.
Baby B was the most patient and beautiful sleeping baby (and beauty!) I ever could’ve asked for! Her hair was gorgeous and dark, her complexion was this beautiful peachy tan color that even her mother and I looked at enviously together as we smiled.
Her parents were so kind and had so much love for her, and it was so obvious as I listened to their powerful story about her arrival that she is going to be someone special one day, because she already is. This sweet newborn has no idea how lucky she is to have so much love in her life, but I know for certain, one day she will! Thanks for such a wonderful newborn photo shoot- I seriously have the best job in the world as a newborn photographer!
